Ottawa's Vyshyvanka March Celebrates Ukrainian Heritage in Canada's Capital

The Ukrainian community of Ottawa came together to celebrate Vyshyvanka Day with a vibrant and inspiring march through the heart of Canada’s capital. Organized by the Ottawa Branch of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, the event brought together hundreds of participants of all ages to honour Ukrainian culture, traditions, and national identity.

The annual Vyshyvanka March once again demonstrated the strength and unity of the Ukrainian community in Canada. Colourful embroidered shirts, Ukrainian flags, and joyful gatherings transformed downtown Ottawa into a celebration of Ukrainian heritage and resilience.

A special highlight of the event was the participation of the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada. Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada Andrii Plakhotniuk presented the first vyshyvankas to newborn Ukrainian children, symbolically passing on the rich cultural traditions and identity of Ukraine to the next generation.

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Ottawa Branch, extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who participated, volunteered, and supported this year's celebration. Your presence helped showcase the beauty of Ukrainian culture and strengthened the bonds that unite our community.

We also thank photographer Marina Shum for capturing the spirit and memorable moments of the day. We invite everyone to enjoy the photo gallery and relive this wonderful celebration of Ukrainian heritage in Ottawa.
