Ottawa Community Commemorates Ukrainian Children Killed by Russia

On the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Ottawa Branch, together with the Initiative Group of Russian Embassy Protesters, gathered in Ottawa to honour the memory of Ukrainian children whose lives have been taken by Russia’s war against Ukraine.

This solemn day serves as a reminder of the most tragic cost of war — the loss of innocent children. According to official figures, 707 Ukrainian children have been killed since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Behind every number is a child with a name, a family, dreams, and a future that was unjustly taken away.

Community members came together in remembrance and solidarity to honour these young lives and to stand with the families who continue to bear the unimaginable pain of loss. The gathering also served as a call to the international community not to forget that the war continues, and that Ukraine’s struggle is not only for its sovereignty and freedom, but also for the fundamental right of every child to live in safety, dignity, and peace.

The organizers extend their sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in the commemoration. Your presence demonstrated that these children are remembered, their stories are not forgotten, and their lives continue to inspire our collective commitment to justice and accountability.

As we remember the innocent victims of this war, we reaffirm our support for Ukraine and our determination to advocate for a future where no child suffers the horrors of violence and aggression.

May their memory be eternal.

Вічна пам’ять.

Slava Ukraini.
